Cruising Headsails

Performance and durability

At North Sails Israel we believe that a cruising Headsail should continue to perform in a wide range of conditions for very many years. It's one challenge to make a new sail a perfect shape, but keeping that shape over years takes much more effort.
We start with the cloth which is chosen for it's durability and long term shape holding. High tenacity yarns in the fill direction complement the sail panels design which is laser cut to our superior tapered panel layout. This is more expensive to produce but the tapering of each panel allows the alignment of the strong fill cloth to match the designed curve of the sail. This feature helps to lock the power in place but more importantly will dramatically increase the shape life of your sail.

With Teardrop reinforcing at all the load areas we spread the loads over the entire sail ensuring shape stability especially when beating hard up wind, That's when you will really feel the extra forward drive resulting in more speed, higher pointing and less heal.

When reefing a typical Genoa, the reinforcing on head and tack is wound up inside the sail and is no longer where it is needed, causing additional distortion. We overcome this problem with our “Roller Furling patch” radial reinforcing patches which extend the head and tack reinforcing out into the foot and leach of the sail. You now take the loads through the RF Patches not the foot and leach of the sail resulting in smoother shape under load when the sail is reefed.
When you have finished sailing and furl the sail, you will find it completely protected from the damaging sun with Sunbrella UV cloth. It's simply the best.
Combine all these features and you have a Headsail with more drive better pointing and long long life
